Essences for oil soaps

When perfuming oil soaps you can opt for aromatic essences. These are synthetic fragrances that recreate a certain smell, such as chocolate, orange, coffee, roses, vanilla, incense ... The catalog is very wide and there are for all tastes! With them you will get your soaps to have an incredible smell.

If you opt for aromatic essences to perfume oil soaps it is important that you keep in mind that some of them can accelerate the trace, that is, they will make it harden too quickly.

This occurs with aromatic essences containing geraniol and eugenol. These components make the trace harden very quickly and sometimes difficult to work with. If this happens to you you should pour the trace into the mold as soon as possible and tap it so that it settles well.

There are also fragrances that produce the opposite effect: they liquefy the trace. In this case, you must beat the mixture for longer to harden it and achieve the desired texture.

It is advisable to test the aromatic essence before using it in the preparation. How? Separate 50 g of the trace, add 10 drops of the essence you are going to use and see what happens.

In addition, it is important to keep in mind that some aromatic essences have color, so you can get to color a little. In the product sheet of each of the fragrances you will find more information about it. In the case of essences containing vanillin, nitrated musks and coumarin, soaps can darken over time.

How much aromatic essence is advisable to add? The recommended amount is around 1 percent. Of course, everything depends on your personal tastes and the intensity of aroma that is sought. The essences are incorporated into the trace of the soap. Our advice? Add little by little, stir and, if you want more intensity, incorporate a few more drops.
