Scissor mold
Scissor mold, to make candles in 3 dimensions with the shape of scissors. This mold faithfully reproduces the shape and design of a typical metal scissors, open and upright. It has a base about 3 cm thick, which allows the sail to remain standing.
The scissor mold of Gran Velada is made of silicone and is characterized by its great flexibility and non-adhesion. That is why we will not need to use any type of release agent when making the candles.
Scissor sail
Making a scissor sail with our silicone mold is really easy. For each candle we will only need 150 grams of wax or paraffin, a dye and wick. Although we can also add a few drops of aromatic essence.
Steps to get the scissor sail:
- Melt in a saucepan and over low heat the 150 grams of wax or paraffin.
Then add the coloring and essence and stir well. Then fill the mold and let it cool.
The next step is to unmold the candle and place the wick. Before the candle cools completely we will unmold it and, helped by a guide rod, we will make a small hole in the center of the candle to place the wick. To make it easier the candle must be solid on the outside but the inside still does not cool completely.
Finally we will let it finish solidifying and we will have it ready to use.
